Playing Sony games on PS3 (and so big excluded, like Red Dead Redemption or The Last of Us) on PC is now possible. After many manipulations, all the more uncertain than the others, the emulator RPCS3 could be yours. Here is our guide to achieve this!
A very powerful computer needed:
- Before attempting to emulate PS3 title on PC , make sure to respect the minimum conditions. Thus, you will need at least a processor i5 (equivalent to AMD Ryzen 5). Question graphics card, the software requires a Vulkan- compatible card, so from a GTX 690 to the most recent (find the list of equivalences at AMD ). For the rest, know that you will never have too much RAM and that only Windows 7/8/10 are supported. Linux and BSD 64-bit distributions are also compatible.
- Next, you need to install the system for reading PS3 files on your computer. You can find it on the official website , download it and install it .
- Finally, the RPCS3 software that will bridge the files of the game and your computer, that is to say the emulator.
Installing the emulator and launching games:
- After getting all the files you need, choose to extract the ps3 emulateur to a new folder. Launch it from its shortcuts, and leave it for a few moments. After its automatic procedures, you will theoretically only have one step: start a game .
- But here it is illegal to distribute disk images of the properties of SONY ... You will have to extract them yourself by following the instructions of the creators of RPCS3, at the bottom of the page.
- If you managed to retrieve a game image otherwise, either from the different online libraries, or through shared links (eg this version of Digimon All-Stars Rumble is taken from a SteemKR user, demo model only), then follow these steps:
-> File
-> Boot Game
-> Select the game folder
-> Open, and let the magic happen.
List of supported games:
- The thinking heads behind RPCS3 maintain a list of supported PS3 games, and the conditions under which you can play .
- You can also follow the different YouTube videos , showing the advanced emulator. The updates are regular, and the titles start to really playable in terms of FPS and quality.
